Sole Survivor

Not so long ago, repairing shoes rather than throwing them out would’ve been the norm. But these days, shoes seem to be just another landfill filler. However, an Italian designer who’s just graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven has come up with a clever idea to make repairing shoes much easier.

Eugenia Morpurgo’s Repair It Yourself shoes “bring tools and knowledge for repairing shoes back into the hands of the consumer”. The shoes have a canvas upper, reversible soles and each pair is sold with a repair kit that makes it possible to customise your shoes as you fix them.

Do you think repairing your own shoes is an idea that’ll catch on?
