WE'VE BEEN INSPIRED BY: Ice Ice Baby
What better way of highlighting the plight of polar bears than making someone watch an iceberg melt in front of their eyes? Except these icebergs are man-made, miniature and in your drink…
Originally designed by Atsuhiro Hayashi, when filled and frozen these silicon ice cube molds produce perfect polar bears standing above the water level of your drink as an ice cube iceberg bobs below. But, as your drink warms and the ice begins to melt, the fate of the ice animals becomes clear.
Unveiled in Toyko at Designer’s Week back in 2009, the polar bear ice cubes are finally hitting the market now. Filling you glass with an environmental message? We’ll drink to that.
