Holding a Torch for Winter Youth Olympic Games 2012
The 27th December this year isn’t just a day for getting over the excesses of Christmas. It marks the start of the Winter Youth Olympic Games torch relay, counting down the days until the Games kick off in Innsbruck on 13th January 2012.
Over 350 young people will be torchbearers along the 3,500km route from Innsbruck to Athens, including 250 who won the opportunity as part of Coca-Cola Austria’s partnership with Austria’s biggest daily newspaper, Kronen Zeitung, and retailers Spar and Mpreis.
The Winter Youth Olympic Games is the first event of its kind and the Olympic Committee’s largest new event since launching the Winter Olympic Games in 1928. Coca-Cola has been supporting the Olympics for over 80 years and will be in the thick of the action all the way up to the main 2012 summer games in London.
