Coca-Cola in Japan have come up with a new way for you to get more than a can of Coke from their vending machines. It’s called the ‘Happiness Quest’ and uses smartphone technology and QR codes to make every purchase more like going round to a friend’s than a trip to the shops.

Over 800,000 Coca-Cola vending machines across Japan will have their own unique QR code that you can scan to win rewards. You’ll also be able to choose a single vending machine as ‘my machine’ so that every visit could bring you useful info, news, offers and points to collect so you can customise your very own vending machine avatar.
