A Shining Example
They say that one man’s trash is another’s treasure – this beautiful glass jewellery made from recycled glass Coca-Cola bottles certainly proves the point!
Leading Parisian jewellers Gontié Paris started a small revolution in the jewellery world when they launched their first eco jewellery range in 2010. With over 180 designs – from rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings to keyrings, phone straps and bag clips – each unique glass bead was once part of a Coca-Cola bottle. As well as creating something beautiful, they hope to raise environmental awareness and encourage more and more people to recycle.
What’s more, every time you buy a piece of their beautiful glass jewellery, they donate €1 to French organisations running reforestation programmes in Mali, Indonesia and Madagascar.
So far Gontie have recycled around 10,000 glass bottles (two tonnes) each year to make their glass jewellery. They’re hoping more people in 2012 will recycle to “help their bottles become something extraordinary again”.
